You are very wise. Thank you. My lufe is better for this. My dad was a prisoner of war, captured on Corrigador in the 4th Marines. May5/6 1942. He spent 3 1/2 yrs in a Japanese prison camp. All his life he cared for the regular Japanese soldiers. And, yes, there were some who were monsters. But he respected their honor and patriotism, flawed thi it was. He received a letter, I still have it, of comendation from FDR. He fought. He always honored the Japanese. I got my 1st chopsticks when I was 6. Dad was in Okinawa then. I was raised on Southern fried, Norwegian, German, French, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. On special occassions we had SuliYaki. A bowl of rice, a cap of veggies or meat and lotus root and mandarin oranges and canned bean sprouts. 65 yrs ago. Most wobderful moments in my life. We were enemies but we learned and became great friends. To the soldiers who helped keep my dad alive after their death march from Corrigador and the horrors of the ocean to Japan, i thank you and your families. I would not be alive without you. I grieve fot Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all our men and women, whichever side.
