  30 years later and Parts Express still rates their "200" watt amps... *100wpc x2 into 4 ohms OR 50 wpc into 8 ohms...great vid!

  The tape is there <b>because</b> it covers the holes in the body. They put a lot effort in forward thinking and long-term reliability into that thing.

  A little research revealed this unit was manufactured by Kyocera in Japan.

  I had two Lafayette receivers decades ago. Both superlative units. I could not wait to receive their yearly catalog. They were famous for their FM/Stereo reception.

  You took the words right out of my mouth. I&apos;ve been a hi/fi enthusiast since entering my neighborhoods Lafayette store in the very early 70&apos;s and remember their catalogs and remember lusting for one of their complete good/better/best systems (years before Radio Schack). I also will never forget when the same Lafayette in Jamaica, Queens suddenly had Pioneer&apos;s SX 1010 receiver in their showroom and for me the rest is &quot;audiophile&quot; history. There was also a &quot;Stereo Exchange&quot; in Jamaica/Hillside ave...and that&apos;s when the &quot;separates&quot; bug bit hard. I&apos;m a 70yr/old &quot;audiophile&quot; still reading TAS,Stereophile etc.watching the insanity and loving and &quot;hearing&quot;every moment.

  My Grandfather gave me his 1974 &nbsp;Lafayette Quad Stereo &nbsp;4 Channel LR 420. It sounds totally awesome and has modes that separate the instruments and vocals. &nbsp;Not to mention quad effects too. Crisp and clear sound and excellent bass too. It has multi speaker connections.

  Great video! &nbsp;I&apos;m cleaning up my Lafayette LR3500. &nbsp;They are very underrated! &nbsp;Also, mine still has the am antenna warning label too :)

  When I was a kid, my dad repaired TV&apos;s on the side. There was a &quot;Lafayette&quot; store in our smallish town of 17k people he&apos;d shop at for his electronic components. I was young when I go with him, but I remember they sold stereo&apos;s as well as TV&apos;s there. The store closed somewhere in the early 70&apos;s, and dad would go to Radio Shack after that.

  My first real stereo amp was a Lafayette LA-234 I paid $10 for at a flea market. It used 6BQ5 output tubes, wish I still had that amp.
