  The Dutch gratitude for the Allied effort at Market Garden is one of the most heartwarming aspects of WW2 history. I say that without irony. The fact that they can say thanks guys, you did your best and we're grateful that you tried, is just amazing.

  Al has become an excellent historian.  He should think about doing a lecture tour, I would pay to hear him speak about Arnhem.

  Al is a true inspiration. His passion is infectious and the way he presents in pure magical. We need people like Al, to help keep alive the history and the story’s of so many, who gave their tomorrow for our today.

  My wife is Dutch Indonesian. She was 5 years old in 1942. Her father was Dutch, so the family was Dutch. He was made a slave laborer of the glorious Japanese Empire but survived. My wife, her mother, an Indonesian, and 5 siblings hid in the jungles and small villages for 3 years surviving on fried grasshoppers and whatever they could get from the jungles. She did not learn to read until she was nine years old and that was in her native language, Dutch. Until this day, she has no love for anything Japanese.

  Al&apos;s obsession with MG shines through. As always, his attention to the detail, the people involved, and the terrain they had to endure and undertake is just top-notch.   The final comment about the extraordinary generosity of the Dutch people is very telling. There is a tradition of placing the photos of those buried on cemeteries in the Netherlands that involves all generations. Amazingly, Dutch volunteers worked to ensure that hundreds of graves in CWGC cemeteries in Sicily had photo portraits placed on them to mark the 80th anniversary of Husky. God Bless the people of the Netherlands!
