JAK Sh. Shinawy and Imam Tom. Very similar hajj experience. My cousin called me from Egypt in April of 2017 to say he’s making hajj. I decided to join him from Houston, even though I was thinking finding him will be like finding a needle in a haystack. Booked the trip even though I did not have the money. My mom got diagnosed with terminal cancer in May, and passed away in August. All along am wondering if I should cancel my hajj but I don’t. I leave Houston 24 hours before hurricane Harvey hits, and about 6 weeks after mom passes away. I get there and it’s like Allah has invited me to heal. Not only do I get to see my cousin from my mom’s side but also one from my dad’s side that I had not seen in 35 years. And, out of the blue I get a bonus at work that was almost exactly the same amount I paid for the hajj trip. Sobhanallah. Take the first step, and Allah will take care of the rest.

Rising costs have turned the sacred pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah into heavily commercialized and expensive journeys. Driven by Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" to expand religious tourism, the industry has shifted toward luxury and corporate monopoly, pricing out everyday Muslims who save for a lifetime. Allah make it easy and knows best!

Agree with so much of what you all said. After I came back from hajj I kept telling people just make the intention and start planning to go for hajj you will not regret it. It’s truly an experience that a Muslim should go through

I saw a photo dated 1932 of a caravan of pilgrims on camel heading for hajj. These caravans were still existing actually not so far from our present day.

Hajj is still unaffordable to so many muslims, its a dream that looks too far to reach, so pls pray for the others that cant afford to do Hajj.

Imam Tom speaks of Hajj changing you. My experience has been that Allah will inevitably change you via Hajj in ways that you may not be aware of for years (or during your earthly life!). On several occasions during Hajj, I was so tired that I could barely think, and Allah Ta'ala guided my feet directly toward whatever I most needed at the time (including physical needs). Remembering these moments increases my tawakkul and tawhid. If you haven't yet made a Hajj, may Allah Ta'ala invite you next year, and may He accept all our ibadah and count our good deeds in the balance as heavier than our bad deeds. Jazak Allahu khairan to the two shuyukh and to Yaqeen for posting this video.
