I am a real Municher, born and raised in Munich. Me and most of the people i know in Munich don't go there anymore. The Oktoberfest or "Wiesn" as we say in Munich is of course not what it used to be. These days are long gone. Today it is a mere tourist thing, not attractive for many Munichers or even Bavarians anymore. But if you want to get ripped off with astronomic prices and fight your way through hundreds of thousands of people - feel free to go there.

I don't drink anymore, that would not stop me from going except that I also can't handle big crowds. I tried to go a few times to our little local German American Christmas fair, and I just couldn't find anything I wanted to buy for a gift. I give up. Just skip it and learn how to yodel online at home this year, trust me it's cheaper and less exhausting.
