Brabants need to come back as they are super wide trek horses that look like a draft cross w/ a puppy dog personality. A friend brings hers to the Aisle of Breeds where people can ask to pet the horse each year at our state fair and this big fellow. . . . .he just sticks his head out and is like "PET ME!!!!" and he can deal with screaming kids for hours and hours as long as he is getting loved on.

Ahkal Teke is a challenging breed for the average owner. While beautiful they are incredibly high energy and need a person who can devote a significant amount of time in riding or exercising to them. They are very sensitive and if you are cruel they will basically never forget being handled by a cruel person so the individuals working with these horses need to be able to redirect the energy and set the horse up for the correct answers and a great partnership for things to work - Experienced horsemen only need apply.

Hackney - I love these guys. They have very big responses and the big steps make everything they do look bigger and it can scare some people. They really do want to please people though and just have a human all their own. Requires Gentle owner that is intermediate to experienced level.

Nokota - Oh, what a mixed bag since it's like mustangs that were trapped in the badlands. They generally have a personality and this will not be a push button horse as they will have an opinion on that. I am happy to see them being purposefully being bred so we can hopefully get some better conformation and temperament from them, but at this time those who end up with a stallion will pretty much breed to anything.

Fell Pony's - OMG, these guys are so much in a little container.

They should of been released back to the mountains, or where ever they came from, organized humans are so destructive.

The fact that no road systems were reserved for horses forced car use when it was not needed and may not have been desired.
Btw, some breeds do have a naturally high step, which is practical in deep snow and mud, hence its prevalence among carriage breeds

I thought there was stil one abaco barb until 2015. At least that's what there web site says.....
I remember donating tothe Abaco Barb foundation for quite a few years... they were beautiful horses...
They should have been removed from the island when in became clear it was tok dangerous there for them. AND they should have done a Surrogacy program with them.
Thats just it, with these super rare breeds. tbere are enough healthy common horses like your standard quarter horse or thoroughbred that you could transplant an embryo foal into. And im sure peopl would donate towards the procedures to boost herd populations. before a breed disappears completely.... let some quarter horses carry some rare breed babies......

The UK spent decades recovering wild native horses. Now eco terrorists (climate change morons) are demanding their total destruction in the name of "saving the planet". Same is happening in the EU and several native or cultural breeds are extinct. 😢
