Did you know that the path through the underground maze is actually clear if you listen to the sound of the buzzer each time you stop and turn? It tells you which way is the correct way!

I feel that old cd based games just randomly spawning out of nowhere was just a common thing in the early 2000s.

I'd love to see software art have a resurgence. There's a scene for interactive exhibits, marketing, and experiences, but pieces like that don't really exist for home consumption anymore. Last thing I can think of is like, Electroplankton, which shows how broad these pseudo games can be.

Loved this vid!!!!! So few people Get the appeal of myst like this

A lot of the "engine limitations" were intentional, trying to have as minimal an interface as possible — which is why it was so successful. Hard to beat, but easy to pick up.

Sad to see this get so few views. I found this video more enjoyable than the game itself. I spent many attempts over the years to get into it, given its pedigree. This finally allowed me to see the ending.

i love hearing you weren't the only one this game just appeared to with no explanation, brings a twinge of magic to life, the idea that this game wasn't sold, you didn't buy this game, it chose you.

If you enjoyed the explorer vs plunderer (and the nature of creativity) themes in Myst and haven't already checked out Riven, let's just say it expands on them immensely.

For the submarine puzzle you're actually supposed to use the directional sound ques from the bridge puzzle. What still makes the puzzle insane is you can do it before you ever learn about the direction sounds and be trapped there with no idea how to proceed.

Wow, this was a blast from the past. I played Myst and Riven when I was a little kid. Such memorable experiences.

This makes me wonder how much Outer Wilds was inspired by this game.
