The best part about the thruster is, depending on whether you have more fuel/oxidizer/balanced, the flame that comes out has different color (More orangey fore more fuel>oxidizer, more bluey for more fuel<oxidizer)

"And the tank is just a cannon strapped to a bulldozer" so, funny story about the origin of the real-world tank

factorios sprites are amazing, i love how the lightning collector is just a lightning rod strapped to the top of an accumulator

My favorite part about the sprites in Factorio is how there are gears and cranks on almost every machine, which gives it all some sort of credibility to the functionality of each machine, despite most of it being probably not realistically possible due to the ingredients.

Youd not get that kind of love-to-budget ratio in any triple A game...

This all started when a friend of the developer commented on the game being ugly, there is an interview (in Czech) with the main developer mentioning that. In the interview it was also mentioned that the main developer loved playing Industrial Craft, a mod in Minecraft which added machinery and nuclear reactors. The main developer wanted to do something like that but on a much bigger scale and realized that Minecraft couldnt handle it and that's where Factorio started.

    Some further notes:
- The Agri Tower's greenhouse chamber's color changes based on what plants it's planting and harvesting. Even regular trees on Nauvis use a green color, while Jellynut is purple and Yumeko uses orange/red.
- The foundry's liquid metals cool and harden into solid when the foundry is not working, and remelt into molten metal again when it starts back up
- The recycler emits smoke from its little smokestack while it's working, and this smoke changes color to match any fluid inputs the item requires while crafting if it has any.
- The cryo plant also changes its color of the inside chemicals based on what it's making/doing: explosives for example make it red, sulphur makes it yellow, steam condensation makes it whispy and blue.
- The good old chemical plants do the same thing as the cryos and the bios and change color based on input/output.
- The fusion reactor has a design that's vaguely based on real life fusion reaction chambers, with the "donut" shaped internal chamber.
- The Biolab has a little centurfuge spinning purple chemical vials around as it works.

There's a lot of other details to notice and appreciate but that's just a list I came up with.

9:19 even the scientists at NASA had a hard time designing a rocket engine that doesn't shake itself apart. The F1 exploded so many times because of combustion instability, that for a long time they weren't sure that such a big single combustion chamber is viable. 🙂

2:30 I like how you can tell that the laser turret both has the turret azimuth to aim but also the small lense that anlges for the fine adjustments when aming. Large azimuth for large movements, small lense pivot for small adjustments.
