God.  MTV in the 90s was the BEST.  It had the perfect balance of great shows, and music.

Man the city's changed so much since this was filmed! What a time capsule. This season meant so much to me as a young Seattleite in the 90s!

When Stephen slapped Irene because she outed him was iconic.

Seattle should’ve kept this as a 90s time capsule

I actually met Mary Ellis-Bunim the creator of the real world in mid 1997 as the filming for this was wrapping up. She was a guest speaker for an event being held at the Crest Theater in Sacramento. <br>I remember it vividly because she was a long time cigarette smoker as a matter fact, I believe she passed away from cancer. But I remember her wanting to have a cigarette before she went on stage. She was very nervous being in front of a bunch of high school students and having to give a big speech. I was attending the event through word-of-mouth and working security and stuff like that, and she had commented that she had wanted to have a cigarette before she went on stage and the only area to have a cigarette was out on the street through a fire exit. There was absolutely no smoking in the theater ironically, the theater had gone unscathed from a fire decades before. Anyhow, her assistant asked if I would accompany her because he was not a cigarette smoker and I was and it was a very interesting conversation. Watching this again nearly 30 years later really shows you how much things have changed. I find it sometimes painful to watch and wish you could go back to that time.

I love the old OG episodes that aired on MTV with the original songs that were played on the broadcast
