  There’s no way she could have divorced Prince Edward. And as a future queen married to the heir to the throne, she unfortunately had to expect that his behavior would be the way it was.  That was the usual reality in royal marriages at that time.

  She was simply caught in a trap. Accepted it and made the best of it. Like a lot of folk do . She had no choice in the matter. The choice was taken for her.

  She sent for Camilla’s ancestor.  Sleeping with the Prince of Wales/King runs in those family genes.

  This is what Diana feared more than anything:  losing her kids.  She saw that the law took her and her siblings away from her mother and knew that, the stakes were higher with the heir and spare on the line.  If the Queen had come to Diana and said, "look, we know you're a good mother.  We would never take your kids away from you with the exception of:  you're a drug addict or harmful to yourself.  And we do this not because we're royal, but because those kids are my grandkids and I want them protected", I believe Diana would not have acted out so outrageously.  Which eventually cost her her life.

  Maybe so she had already been been gone. Separated herself from him and she probably stayed because of the children's line. She no longer cared

  No matter what he did she would still be queen consort of the largest empire in the world.  Stay silent and look the other way.  She played the game well.  Pity Diana couldn't do the same.  Different temperament
