  Fun fact: during the development of Sonic 1 the developers intended Sonic to be fast just like this but they decided to add speed caps because it was too fast

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbUpcaHALvM&amp;t=86">1:26</a> the reason sonic &quot;struggles to get through the S tubes&quot; is due to a glitch; in sonic 1, the death plane is always the bottom of the screen, so if you go too fast in the s tubes, the camera can&apos;t keep up and you hit the bottom of the screen, resulting in a death. So, the hacker added the &quot;struggling&quot; through s tubes so that it would be possible to beat the game.
