Jones Beach Theater is one of the best places to watch a show.

Absolutely stunning Art Deco architecture and boardwalks and recent restoration to original deco bathhouses. Gatsby restaurant and Jones Beach theatre hosting world class shows from John Fogerty to Little Wayne. Still a fantastic beach with white sand and dunes that stretch for miles.

I grew up going to that Beach and it was always crowded. The crowds got less, except for Memorial Day and July 4th but I think people just had more money to take trips, have a pool or whatever. No beaches are crowded like this anymore. But the pool was open about 10 years ago, which is the last time I was there in the summer.

My father was stationed on Governors Island in New York Harbor. We went there once.

I remember going backstage at Jones Beach Theatre in the 1980s. There was water in front of the stage and you had to go under the water via a tunnel to get “backstage.”

Most all of the beach photos shown after Sandy were mostly from Long Beach to the west and other non Jones Beach areas.
