  My daughter was a cook on the Polar Star for two tours to Antarctica.  She ran a 5 k run in Antarctica.  The pictures she sent were just amazing. Close ups of penguins,  seals and whales from various times on her journeys.

  I was stationed on the Polar Star back 2002-2004. Best deployment ever!

  I did 2 tours on board Polar Star in the 80's. Four Deep Freeze operations.

  I replaced propeller shaft bearings in this ship in the late &apos;80s while working at Todd Shipyards on Harbor Island.

  A relative did a 6 month tour at McMurdo. He went to culinary school to become qualified for something they needed. He did it for fun.

  I don&apos;t know who is more amazing.... The Captain and crew?The engineers who designed it? Or the technicians who built it? All are beyond impressive. And let&apos;s not forget who this ship carries. Serious scientists and engineers. Logistics personnel who power the mission and take care of the people. These men and women play their position with a level of precision that most of us can never comprehend. Love y&apos;all.
