0:48 Well, no they've actually been in every movie in the original trilogy, it's just that they never dropped their cloaking fields :P

It's so nice to find another builder who prefers the sturdiness of plastic over using foam and cardboard.

Thank Gundam for giving Bandai like 40 years of experience in perfecting moulding technology. If you've never looked at a modern Master Grade Gundam kit you should, it'll blow your mind

Now that you've used parts from both kits you're cursed with a bunch of ultra-recognizable tie fighter bits to try to fit into other projects.

According to Adam Savage, all TIEs are painted the same gray.
However, what makes them look bluer in EP V to VI is due to the lighting.

I think you did everything well. The build and the color.

The Phantom was also sold in miniature form for the X-Wing tabletop game! I had one for my Empire force, before I sold my collection. Very neat fighter.

"I am very impatient" manages to put tens of hours, if not hundreds, in selecting and placing tiny bits all over the ship

Great job! The result looks fantastic! And you made a whole doctorate investigation about tie fighters, variations and appearances! I consider myself a star wars fan and I never had an idea of how much variants existed!

17:59 yeah, life support, as most TIE variants do not come with on board life support systems, unlike their rebel counterparts

It is life support. Part of what makes the Tie fighters so awesome is that they are basically just an engine and guns with some solar panels so that they don't even carry fuel. The pilot has a life support unit they carry with them when they get into the ship.
