All jokes aside, the Mouth of Sauron has always been one of the most interesting villains to me. In a setting where evil people are usually controlled by fear, greed, pride or addiction, this guy just believes in Sauron so fully that not even being remembered by his own name - not even remembering it himself - matters to him. It's almost kind of noble in a weird, twisted way; he has enormous pride, but it's not a pride in himself, or a plan he's laid, or something he's created, it's entirely in the master he serves. It's more like a misplaced religious fervor, than anything else.

More than any other character in the series, he makes me wonder about speculative scenarios. Sauron couldn't possibly be much more blatantly destructive, cruel and overbearing if his life depended on it, so just what HAPPENED in this mysterious man's life that turned him into such a selfless - literally selfless - fanatic?

I've always wanted to more about this guy. He only shows up once for such an important person in Sauron's ranks

Love watching the closed captioning try to tackle Tolkien's words.

The real sad part is that he was doomed to fail from the start. The tokens he had were significant, sure, but he didn't know that he was missing at least one key item: Sting. Without Sting, he couldn't convince them that the quest had failed. Because Frodo had Sam's sword, it was clear that Sam took the Ring before Frodo was captured, rather than the Ring being lost somewhere or captured by Sauron, so there was still hope the Quest could be completed.

The thought occurs, however unlikely, that the mouth of Sauron was literally that.
