Ihave been a tool & Modelmaker/machinist and worked in shops and engineering laboratories for over 50 years. used many pink grade A & AA granite surface plates for many of those years. I worked on surface grinders and EDMs keeping part tolerances to within 0.0001" . I have never seen a professional do a scraping job in person.
