In my family (German) it was tradition to have the children take the name of their great-grandfathers, and to carry the name of their fathers as a second name, and their grandfather as a third name.

I saw what a pain this was, especially when it comes to official documentation, and when my children were born, that tradition died a quiet death.

Family was not happy, but I do not want to impose a tradition and schleppage on my children, especially when it comes to official documentation etc.

So they all have single names. And we're happy with that. Much easier and simpler when it comes to official paperwork.

Love the example of David and Goliath. The Lord was his weapon. The Name of the Lord.
