The Villain Who Was The Author All Along

Alright, I think it’s finally time to respond.

What an absolutely insane response to the video. I don’t think I can adequately describe in words what I am feeling through all this. As much as I’d like to reply to each and every comment, that wouldn’t be possible. Hence I’m writing this pinned post. For those uninterested in reading the inevitable Text X Text to come, there’ll be a TLDR below.

First off, I have to apologize for not writing sooner. I have been traveling Japan working on the next video. While I won’t announce the details here, I will just say it is Hunter X Hunter related, though it will encompass much more than that.

The Morena video was mostly an experiment for what I would like to do editing-wise for upcoming projects, which I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. What I didn’t know at the time was how challenging this video would be, both in creating it and the circumstances outside its creation.

As many have said, the script and editing are ambitious. The script in particular was probably the toughest part. While I had what I believed to be cool ideas, I struggled to piece them together into a cohesive, coherent narrative. What you’re seeing is the result of endless changes working on this on and off for months, with seemingly no end in sight.

On top of that, some of the most difficult times in my life were while creating this. From moving countries, to losing a loved one, and changing jobs. There were many times I contemplated giving up well into the project due to the overwhelming stress of these events.

Basically, I was going insane.

So, why put so much effort into a video like this? You might ask. Honestly, I don’t know.

What started as an exciting idea for a character I’ve come to love turned into something so complicated, I was beginning to lose sight of why I was even making this to begin with. Also, Morena is a pretty niche manga character, all things considered. She’s introduced deep into this extremely complex arc in a series constantly on hiatus. Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting much of anything.

But for whatever reason, I kept pushing forward anyway. Like some sort of maniac hell-bent on finishing this video just for the sake of it. And then, I started to really enjoy creating this. At least until it came time to post, since I wasn’t fully satisfied with the result. But I’m relieved to have gotten it out there.

In short, I agree with many of the criticisms (except for the AI accusations or botting comments, lol). But I guess that comes with the territory of making videos on a platform drowning in slop. It just sucks to have something you worked hard on for so long get reduced to “it’s AI generated” and “he’s botting comments”. Such is the nature of people who have never created a video, are highly misinformed about AI, or both.

But that concludes the rant. If you’re still reading this, I really appreciate you. If not,

TLDR: Thank you so much for all the support. Next video is in the works, please give me some more time.

Edit: by popular demand, the song list is in the description.

Meruem cannot comprehend the "bottomless malice within the human heart," a malice that can lead humans to self-destruction as a final act of defiance.

It’s amazing that people can still make content out of HiatusxHiatus

I was expecting something very different. That the author self inserted himself into a villain to experience what they are experiencing through them, but this was something way different lol

Other thing to notice is Togashi seems to leave nen abilities that reference RPGs only to his most important characters, Morena has "leveling", Chrollo can steal "Skills" and Ging, aside making Greed Island's, probably has some nen related to expanding or upgrading his punches like progressing a Job Class or something even crazier as switching Jobs which is why he has a monologue about Leorio's work while attacking the soldiers.

I recall someone saying they considered HxH Togashi's own thesis on humanity and how he found humanity depressing and had no hope for the future.
Also recalling his past-work of the Dark Chapter in Yu Yu Hakusho.
