  This man had a massive influence not only on the people that he operated, but on the millions to come to life in the future.<br>Stem cells, artificial hearts. This man had a massive influence on those.

  His book &nbsp;Fragile Lives is a riveting &nbsp;and &nbsp;most informative read as are the case histories he relates. &nbsp;Not that many seven year olds are so focused on what they want to do for the rest of their lives, &nbsp;and then go and do it so successfully. &nbsp;His fearless &nbsp;and innovative approach to saving lives &nbsp;regardless of how ill the patients were, is incredible. &nbsp;Why he has not been knighted for his life&apos;s work &nbsp;before now is difficult to understand. I hope he enjoys a happy and satisfying retirement.

  Bit of a hero of mine is Mr Westaby.Top Bloke. The catheter and boots story is a classic. Humility and experience are the keys to wisdom.

  People said im crazy that i decided to be a cardiac surgeon at the age of 12, trying to get in the operating theatre since i was a preclinical medical student... i hope the end of my story also end up like him, i really respect prof.stephen westaby 🙏🏻

  What a wonderfully talented,pioneering, brave, selfless and humble man.I have had a CABG x4 following M.I.(heart attack) and suffer a degree of heartfailure -controlled,so far, by drugs) I have just read his book &quot;Fragile Lives&quot; unputdownable -reads like a thriller.Readily available &nbsp;incl Amazon.A huge thanks is due to all these brilliant surgeouns.
