  When I was pregnant and 10 days past my due date, my Chinese OB/GYN doctor recommended that I go to a very specific Chinese restaurant n China-town in Boston and have a bowl of their hot and sour soup. The soup had ginger in the recipe. I had 1 bowl, we drove home and 2 hours later, my labor started and we had to drive back into Boston for the hospital. 😊 I love Hot and Sour soup, a little extra sour. So SO good.

  I am an African American woman from the Bronx, NY. When I was growing up my Mother would take us to Chinatown in Manhattan and we would often go to little restaurants where no one spoke any English and we of course spoke no Chinese. &nbsp;She would point to dishes which other patrons were eating that she thought looked interesting and order. This is how I came to first try hot and sour, and spinach and bean curd soups which I love to this day. While I often make the hot and sour soup, I’ve never found a spinach and bean curd recipe that was just right. Do you think you’re lovely Dad could make that for us? &nbsp;Love your channel.

  In my younger days, I lived in Queens, N.Y. and worked in Manhattan, Times Square. &nbsp;We were six ladies in the same office, on a high-rise building. &nbsp;I remember going to a chinese restaurant, right next to our bulding with a co-worker from Argentina. &nbsp;I never had hot and sour soup before, but she was familiar with it, so we both got our soups (it was during summer time, Mrs Lau, so I am not the lost friend of yours...) and went back to the office to savour our soups. &nbsp;Lo and behold, that soup became one of my favorites! &nbsp;I will try your version, Chef Lau, and let my imagination run back to those summer days, eating with my Argentinian co-worker - the only ones that loved spicy food!

  One thing I&apos;ve learned from another chef who used to be the presidential chef in Taiwan is to starch the soup first before adding tofu. &nbsp;This is to help preventing the tofu from breaking when it&apos;d being cooked if you cut it thin or using a softer (silken) tofu. &nbsp;Then you add the egg. &nbsp;Vinegar is always last as it will dilute the starch slurry and prevent egg from forming clumps.

  I love how your dad expresses his words through gestures and face expressions. It makes me so happy because my mom tells stories the same way💗 I&apos;ve been watching so many recipes for the pure content of family 🥰
