I bought this as a gift for my friend https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG who is just starting out in the world of wood work. He loves it!! There is a great section on different wood and what to use for what kind of job and a similar section for tools as well. The projects in it are things you probably would have a go at with clear instructions, pictures, videos and diagrams throughout. Great for a beginner/amateur wood worker.

I'm in Vietnam, learning from a master like this one. He is my landlord and the workshop is just where I live. Literally, a heaven

The scraps are used for smaller turnings and wood carving here in Thailand, nothing goes to waste in SE Asia!! A little tip for you guys that have not spent time in SE Asia: Go out into the city outskirts or country and find a site that sells "used" wood, you would be surprised what it looks like after you get the weathered gray covering off!!! Burl wood is expensive all over, I recently saw a Lao burl woodcarving at a sale in Bangkok, asking price for the 2 foot by about 2 foot carving was a little over $11,000 US dollars!

A couple of thin slices off that would have made an awesome dash board for my truck! Lol

Why doesn't anybody cut a burl into 24" x 6" x 1/4" thick and frame it as a peice of art. I think it would be very beautiful and worth it. Thanks

كنت انتظر ان يتم تفريغه من الداخل..ثم يوضع بداخله الحساء اللذيذ،ثم تتم دعوتنا جميعا على العشاء😅

I just watched a video that exceeded its' "click bait" title. This video. The title does not do justice to the beauty of this piece.

And then at the end, they showed the beautiful results of the rest of the burls dropped off. Stunning! The three dimensional qualities of the burl was brought out by the artist. Each one was similar, but different. I like that. Could you imagine a public space where a half dozen of these were on display? Awesome!

They should have left the lathe attachment, cut the top off above halfway point, hollowed
