  The fact that Sidious keeps trying to antagonize Vader by praising his other assassins or acolytes but Vader knows EXACTLY what he&apos;s trying to do.   Palpatine has stated in his personal writings that he considers Darth Vader to be his minor masterpiece. Despite Vader’s many issues he was one of the most powerful Sith Lords of all time. He was a monster created to be the emperor’s fist of authority and power. Vaders greatest strength and greatest weakness was his hatred for himself. He would always hate himself which would give him unending power, but also his loathing held him back. These are my thoughts, anyone agree?

  Coold fact many people missed, Vader did not block luke from killing the emperor out of loyalty, but to prevent luke from turning to the dark side.<br>Luke swung and took Palpatines bait, Darth Vader Stopped &nbsp;him at the last momemt saving luke and would end up doing so again after the zapppy zappy scene

  Just a reminder, technically Mara Jade wasn&apos;t a true darksider. Per Mara Jade: By The Emperor&apos;s Hand issue 0 and the Novel Vision of the Future, Mara was just a mind controlled force sensitive serving evil indirectly. She actually was more a neophyte who didn&apos;t have a force alignment yet, her desire to serve Palpatine actually shielded her from truly going darkside as service is a lightside trait. Yes, she assassinated but she did so because Palpatine was manipulating her thoughts and she very misguidedly believed Palpatine to be the savior of the galaxy. <br><br>Palpatine literally called her unique no force alignment an experiment to Vader in private when Palpatine first informed Vader of her. Vader noticed it when he witnessed Mara training against droids that looked human, Mara sensed an actual human in with the droids and spared him... because if he was loyal enough to sacrifice his life to train her, he must be an upstandingly loyal person and therefore deserved to live. That&apos;s how twisted Palpatine had mad Mara&apos;s thought process, she didn&apos;t understand the light and dark, only in support of or being against Palpatine. With her dogmatic training Palpatine was basically the equivalent of the lightside to a Jedi, but all so twisted she&apos;s killing like a Sith assassin, just without their self serving motivations. Mara would have jumped on top of a grenade for Palpatine, no true darksider would do that as the darkside is all about serving themselves over others. Mara wasn&apos;t a grey Jedi, Mara was a Jedi so misguided she though Palpatine was the force&apos;s will made manifest and therefore would serve him as he dictated was morally right. <br><br>Palpatine after all wanted more force sensitive agents but simultaneously didn&apos;t want them upsetting the rule of two or going full lightside on him one day. Mara was an experiment to see if he could keep them trained just enough to use the force but stay locked in an apprentice level, as without understanding the true natures of the lightside or darkside their ability to gain power was minimal, and so too was their risk of betraying him. &nbsp;<br><br>It&apos;s further reason Vader likely hated her so much... she reminded Vader of Anakin and his misguided beliefs of Palpatine. Mara absolutely had the potential to fall, and likely would have had Palpatine suddenly need her too, like say if Vader died unexpectedly if his suits life support failed one day. However that day never arose. &nbsp;<br><br><br>Now two authors defiantly tried to retcon Mara into a darksider, K.J.A. and Troy Denning, but overall no one else did and everyone else understood she was more a mind control victim as even in the Thrawn Trilogy we see tons of hints Mara fears becoming C&apos;Boath&apos;s mind control victim. Even risking her life to save leia&apos;s newborn kids that fate she went though, then subconsciously doing things so she&apos;d be arrested and couldn&apos;t go through with her mental command to kill Luke. Subconsciously 5 years after Palpatine&apos;s Death Mara was starting to realize what Palpatine did to her and C&apos;Boath&apos;s blunt nature of openly mind controlling others forced Mara to realize this was done to her by Palpatine. It&apos;s been her story since day 1, Mara is a mind control victim who was so discombobulated as a result and linked to Palpatine as kind a a slave that she never had enough freewill to go darkside. She probably would have under different circumstances but she never did. This is why Mara until her literal dying breaths despised Palpatine more than anyone else once she gained mental freedom from his brainwashing and commands. put another way, Mara had parallels to the Clone Troopers... and a good Emperor&apos;s Hand follows orders. This also explains Mara able to talk to Palatine anywhere but no one else after her freedom, even Luke, it was the result of Palpatine linking her to him, not a unique ability.

  Palpatine didn&apos;t replace Vader because he was powerful enough to beat any Jedi that escaped but not powerful enough to overthrow him. He didn&apos;t care about the rule of two he just wanted to live forever.
