Despite being a bit unwieldy, the super deluxe “Grrr” probably has the most thoroughly comprehensive song selection of all the greatest hits releases from the Stones. It also has several deep cuts and really showcases the range of the band. That plus the addition of the bonus disc and EP is the main draw for me. I happen to have the standard three-disc digipak version of “Grrr.” It’s a good set, but the packaging is sure flimsy. The discs actually slide out of the case if you’re not careful. “Forty Licks” to me is still the best Stones compilation. The song sequencing on that album is fantastic. They don’t run in chronological order, but each track builds on and complements the previous one. Reminds me of the Who’s “Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy.” I suppose it’s inevitable the Stones will be coming out with a 60th anniversary release in 2022. I’m not complaining, though. It’s always good to introduce this music to a younger audience every once in a while. I got into the Stones by listening to “Forty Licks,” the same way I got into the Beatles by listening to “1.”

The 3 panel digipak was my choice for this one and I got it very cheap used.  I didn't really like these other versions.  Thanks for the unboxings, always well made and informative.

Hi Brendon, the 5 disc set is really luxurious... interesting to see what's in it. Again, as in a few discussions, i'm not a general Stones listener. I really love the later stuff from them. My first "contact" was "She's the boss" 1985 from Mick Jagger. I still love "Just Another Night", "Half A Loaf", "Hard Woman". The Following year "Dirty Work" from the Stones; generally listed as the worst album. Partially i would agree, but in my opinion "One Hit (To The Body)" is one of the strongest Stones song ever. Than the solo albums from Jagger 1987 and Richards 1988... great albums. 1989 "Steel Wheels"... what a killer album... no weak song on, a few of my all time best Stones songs. I saw them on the "Urban Jungle Tour" 1990 in the stadium in Hannover... what a great concert. What are your thoughts to the later stuff from the Stones? Bye and take care.

MC 94 is legit. Bob Rock did a good job on that album.
