For those of your wondering why both Mike Breen and Bill Walton were silent for the opening minute and a half of this game is cause the 76ers/Pacers game was still going on. And back in those days when those games were still in progress when the next game got started, the announcers would stay silent until they got the cue from the spotter that they were on the air. It was a different ballgame back in 2001 compared to today.

This was a breakthrough season for the Dallas Mavericks as they would make the playoffs the next 10 seasons culminating with the championship in 2011.

I remember really liking and rooting for that 00-01 Mavs squad. Was definitely rooting for them especially against Utah, who I hated lol. young Dirk, prime Nash and prime Finely were such a tremendous trio and fun to watch. Dirk and Nash would go on to become 2 of the greatest players to ever play there position.

After so many lean years in Dallas throughout the '90s -- years I vividly remember -- due to injuries, inconsistent play, and just bad management overall, the Mavericks got the chance to close out the Reunion Arena era with two playoff series. This was the beginning of the Mavs' journey to becoming a competitive franchise after the strong start they had in the '80s.
