A reminder to not self diagnose from this video. A lot of these symptoms are common in regular people, though not necessarily consistent or chronic. Not saying you don’t have anything through. Talk to a doctor about it, and don’t take medical advice from strangers on the internet (not that this is advice).

Genetic OCD sufferer here. This will sound silly but 99.99% of OCD is thought based, the action is 0.01% and that's what people see or sensationalise. It can be as simple as thinking something horrible, and knowing stretching your leg will distract you, so you compulsively stretch your leg every time an intrusive thought bothers you, or an action that actively attempts to soothe the panic caused by the intrusive thought (ie tapping, cleaning, locking and unlocking). The problem neurologically arises over time, as compulsions lend to neuroplasticity and form/burn new neural pathways, meaning your brain can jump to a specific obsession easily. This is especially hard for pure O sufferers, who are often convinced if they think about something long and hard enough, they can get to the root of a problem that isn't there to begin with. It's highly misunderstood publicly, and I wish more people knew that it's very similar to suffering from delusions or schizotypal personality disorder.

A little correction: Narcissus doesn't come from a "story in Roman poetry". It comes from Greek mythology.

i love how the schizophrenia footage is one of those simulations that nothing is like the illness - coming from an schizophrenic person.

24:35 had a friend in high school whose mom developed capras. It was tragic because she was a very sweet woman who cooked for me once. But one day she started running away from home, convinced her whole family were impostors. Both her husband and five kids. I watched for years the family try to get psychiatric or government help but last time I spoke to them, they didn’t know where she was. It’s just really saddening watching a happy family get torn by something completely out of their control. Husband has been working a full time job and still taking care of 3 of the kids that are still children.

I'm a veteran diagnosed with PTSD and I just want to say that people that have PTSD that isn't military related is SO VALID. If you've gotten into a car crash and have PTSD, It's just a serious as my diagnosis. If you have childhood PTSD, it's just as real.

It cannot tell you how sick it makes me, knowing that some people on social media think it’s cool to pretend to have some mental illness, when they ruin the lives of people who genuinely suffer with them.

I'm glad that more people stopped confusing borderline with bipolar. The common response I got to telling ppl I had it was, "But you don't act bipolar."

I hate how misunderstood OCD is. I’ve been struggling with it for many years and it truly is a painful mental disorder. Especially when untreated, it can make you question your morality or even sanity, especially in my case. I urge people to learn more about OCD and support people you know with it.
