3 years ago, it was only Nike and Adidas for me. Now, I swear by my New Balance 9060s - shoes that let me walk 25k-30k steps in Japan a day and I don't feel like my feet are killing me!

I never understand how they can talk about this and never mention ASICS and their incredible comeback. If you want to talk about a smaller brand that is winning in athleisure then it's definitely ASICS. ASICS's turn around and comeback story of the last three years or so is actually quite remarkable yet I never see the mainstream media talking about it. Instead they just prattle on about ON. And Asics right now is every bit as innovative as ON. The Superblast basically invented a new category imho.

Because it's not about quantity , it's about quality.

Asics with their running shoes are likely the biggest comebacks.

I got to know these brands because I work in healthcare and saw a lot of nurses wearing them. When you’re on your feet all the time, comfort for the price matters.

At no point were they honest about why Nike sales are down so badly. Their products are no longer good quality but they continue to cost more. Their toe boxes are getting more narrow to appear more sleek. They’re not concerned about functionality. Nike sneakers start breaking down in months instead of years. I’m 42. My feet haven’t grown but my size in Nike shoes continued to go up because they hurt to wear. I transitioned to new balance. Specifically the 574s because the toe boxes are wider

I went to a UTMB trail race last weekend - the amount of Hoka & On Running shoes & apparel was insane.

Its really a tale as old as time in this sector: Brand builds on word of mouth for quality, brand becomes big, brand dips in quality to keep up with perceived demand, consumer flocks to new, smaller brand known for quality. In the middle, there's probably a conversation about the brand not scaling properly, losing its identity, chasing trends, failing to keep up with trends, etc.; I think if I was an investor, the only brand I'd be truly worried about is lululemon, since that seems to be the brand that most are jumping ship from and isn't close to be as entrenched in sports/lifting/fitness like Nike or Adidas.

I can't wear Nikes because they keep getting narrower in the toe box. Happily switched to New Balance 2e wide shoes, and have gotten back to running again. Go with the brands that listen to the consumer more and shareholder less.

Nike’s decline is notable, but Under Armour’s financials are even more concerning. The company has been bleeding losses since last year, with no relief in sight, and is further weighed down by crippling debt.
