As a Brazilian, a biologist and a plantsman myself, I really appreciate the attention and care they've put into the dismantling and subsequent reconstruction of one of the last ouvres of the genius Burle Marx. 🥰

I think if you had Brazil in thumbnail or title you would get a flood of Brazilian viewers. We are attracted to a foreigner’s opinions of Brazil and its culture like flies to a sundew.

I’m a Brazilian living in the states and went back home last year after a very long hiatus. Brought my kids back to Burle Marx Park in São Paulo, which has a pretty cool history and was design to mimic the natural forest that would have been in São Paulo before it became a concrete jungle. A true gem of a spot and I highly recommend visiting if ever in Brazil. ❤

"Painter, draftsman, engraver, sculptor, ceramicist, set designer, musician, jeweler and, of course, landscaper, Burle Marx was a “total” artist. In this versatile humanist, however, the painter and the landscaper prevailed. His status as a painter helped him transplant avant-garde artistic forms to gardens, applying cubism and abstraction principles to nature. He was thus able to give the gardens a unique and modern aesthetic." Lauro Cavalcanti curator of "Roberto Burle Marx 100 Anos: A Permanência Do Instável" exhibition

Roberto Burle Marx had an incredible way of bringing gardens to life. His designs are full of color, movement, and the beauty of Brazil’s plants. Seeing his work makes you feel alive and inspired.

Burle Marx designed four gardens in my city. They are wonderful. Whenever I pass by, I stop to admire them and relax.

Imagine being able to work in one of these beautiful and important greenhouse. Such a dream ! Eveything is so well calculated and well grown it is impressive. Thank you for the tour !
12:25 this is a Monstera sp.Esqueleto, not a M.epipremnoides. It has already been debated a lot but M.epipremnoides and M.sp.Esqueleto are two different plants. You can see the real M.epipremnoides in " Revision of Monstera (Araceae: Monsteroideae) of Central America" by Thomas B. Croat, Marco Cedeno-Fonseca and Orlando O. Ortiz.

"Burle Marx introduced the aesthetics of painting to landscape design. Drawing inspiration from the key founders of the Modern Art movement, he created abstract paintings that included modernist images based on abstractions of Portuguese/ Brazilian folk culture, and used these as a basis of garden designs in which plants became components of three dimensional living works of art. Burle Marx popularised the use of native tropical plants, many of which he collected and cultivated.
© UNESCO World Heritage Centre 1992-2025"
