  22 years later (after the Passion movie), I’m still here and just retired. “Lord Jesus Christ, help me see my purpose before I close my eyes. Forgive me my sins and allow me to share in Your Kingdom. Amen.”

  A Thank You to Mel Gibson and One Question.<br>Mel Gibson’s connection to Guatemala deserves more attention than it has received. Over the years, he has supported humanitarian efforts benefiting poor and seriously ill children, including programs providing surgeries and medical care. He has visited children in Guatemala’s hospitals and contributed his time and resources to helping families who otherwise might not have been able to obtain treatment.<br><br>His commitment has also extended to Guatemala’s extraordinary cultural heritage. Gibson has supported archaeological and conservation work involving the ancient Maya sites of El Mirador and the Mirador Basin, helping efforts to preserve both the ruins and the surrounding rainforest.<br><br>Whatever one thinks of Mel Gibson as an actor, director or public figure, helping sick and impoverished children and preserving an irreplaceable part of human history deserve recognition. Thank you, Mr. Gibson.
