  Sorry, he abandoned her without any sign he gave a crap  . He had plenty of time to express his intent. She should have annuled the marriage.

  There is a mature love that weathers storms. The story of Alexander returning and wanting to rebuild is a story of overcoming mistakes and regret and ultimately becoming a better person. Catherine also found a more mature love with Alexander than the romantic love she experienced with Edmund that challenged her to become a better person.

  There is a fundamental flaw with the premise to this story and to this marriage… how the heck do you sire an heir - the whole purpose of the marriage - with your virgin bride while you are halfway across the world fighting a war.<br><br>So I have mixed feelings about her relationship with Edmond. &nbsp;She has said her vows, but the marriage was not even consummated, by the groom’s choice, so is it considered a valid marriage?<br><br>And then to call it betrayal when the man who did not fulfill his marriage obligation and was declared dead and then came home….<br><br>So I love a good reconcilliation. &nbsp;Reconcilliation requires regret, repentance, and restitution. &nbsp;This story has all of those.

  Listening from Virginia&apos;s Peninsula area (USA). &nbsp;This story is a celebration of how betrayal and abandonment can be turned into love and forgiveness, IF both choose it! &nbsp;Alexander has to face his culpability in leaving his wife just after their wedding ceremony. &nbsp;And Katherine has to let go of her love for his brother, and find ways to love her husband.

  Alexander should have been a gentleman and annulled the marriage when he returned from war since the marriage hadn’t been consummated and he was the one that deserted Catherine and since she had meanwhile fallen in love with his brother.

  I enjoyed the story and can feel the emotional difficulty of the three characters. &nbsp;I was surprised by some of the comments below being rather judgmental. &nbsp;Listening from Cleveland, Ohio.

  Finally,<br>Finally a story where they have a family and they have sons. I am so freaking tired of every baby being a girl. Thank you. The story was really long and the hero took responsibility for things he should not have but she did stay married to her credit, did her duty and had his two sons, one daughter. I am very pleased. It was also not as thick on the ostentatious feminism, using words salad like &apos;equals&apos;, &apos;partners&apos; &apos;mutual respect&apos;, why do you think we need to keep hearing those words instead of the story telling, showing it to us in the way it is written. I have fatigue for buzz words and phrases like &apos;managing his estates&apos;, &apos;he valued her intelligence&apos;, her &apos;kindness&apos; without actually seeing those things potrayed by the heroine or the hero. Finally, a story that did not piss me off and make me give up listening to these stories on youtube. Thank you. At least some of the good traditional fundamentals for goodness were actually shown in the story. There was forgiveness and patience. And thanks for the sons, again. How many &apos;they had daughter&apos;s stories can you tell before you do the math and see that those solitary millions of daughters dukes keep having will not have husbands if sons are not also born to these couples. Come on guys! These are stories about fairytale dukes and then they keep giving them girl babies. FYI, we are not here to hear the romance of a woman and an effeminate man or another woman. We are here for the handsome dreamy dukes who need to produce male babies as heirs so the stories of those men that grow by the end of the story can be replicated in the way they raise Sons!

  Must be more than 2yrs old, as she was in mourning for more than 1yr and 1yr of War and wedding preparations and also maybe his return. I&apos;d count it 3yrs of wedding anniversary.
