it's surprissing it lasted this long. mainstream american comic are all the same thing over and over. same characters, same archeotypes, same styles... it has been sustained by nostalgic adults, but that generation is not lasting for ever. manga offers way more diverstity and can reach different demografics

I remember talking to someone about why he never watched marvel films and series any more and he said that to understand what was happening you might have to watch ten films before watching the last one and the marvel humour was off-putting, having to have humour everytime something serious happens was cringe. That and the standard of writing was poor and the films were filled with over the top left wing political propaganda and dei. Like me he just watches anime and manga now and rarely buys anything western.

Becasue old comics told a story. New comics push an ideology.

Have you tried to read any of it? Most titles are trash now. When you direct your product at the minority of people, don’t be surprised when only a small fraction of that minority buy your product.

If you do not live in a city with a comic shop. No comics. Good writers and artist hook up for 5 to 10 issues tops. No long term reason to buy a title. Conan had Tomas and Bucena, X-Men had Clairmont and Byrne, Batman had Aparo, Superman Curt Swan, Spiderman, Weiner and Andru, ect.
