I really like your videos. You’ve a lot of patience, because some of your materials take a good while to be ready. I make nettle cordage, as it’s so strong, can be used within a very short time of gathering and stripping the nettles, and is very useful for all sorts of things. In my local estuary, nettle cord thousands of year old has been uncovered by the tide, together with human, auroch, wild pig, goat, and deer prints. I particularly like the baskets you show.

It’s hilarious listening to how you say botanical names.

Great video. I lived 3 years north of Anchorage, AK in Eagle River. I learned basket weaving from an Inuit and Inuipiak (Native) lady there. I never heard of cordage being made from spruce root but there they used it to finish the tops of baskets, sort of like strong and for sewing birch bark baskets together. Alternatively, they used sinew from animals. But good to try all possibilities. I moved to Dayton Ohio in Feb 25 so I am just waiting for Autumn to collect Kudzu, grape vine and other materials to avoid the ticks and other creepy crawly thingies. YUK! But there's lots of materials here :) Tks for sharing.

Seeing how the cordage wants to keep the shape in dried into, I feel like it would make a fantastic lashing for garden trellises and the like. Perhaps a bit redundantly, I think that stiffness would also make it great for rope baskets.

I'd love to see you try making cordage out of bunching onion skins! I have some in my garden, and because of your videos, I've been playing around with them. I think they have potential!

Would this be good to make bowstrings?
