By far one of the best videos you’ve made Matt. I think a lot of us only look at eBay as a side hustle. Whilst I’d love to be able to make as much as what you do. I’m realistic and understand that an extra $150-$200 in my savings each week is good enough. It can be exhausting to be out sourcing, listing and sometimes not seeing the reward from your hard work. I still don’t know how you’re able to make as much profit as you do, after cost of products/fees/postage. There’s literally sometimes $5 left. I would like to say that after a month or so into the no fee for sellers earning less than $25,000 a year has worked out well. My sales haven’t dropped by much and I’m keeping 100% of the sale price, minus postage. I’ve also discovered that eBay postal labels are cheaper than what I was paying through Australia post even with the band incentive. I’d like to hear what other sellers think of the new fee free structure.

The best video you’ve done for people considering selling on eBay! Everyone should watch it. I’ve been part time seller for years & it’s a fun way to make a little extra income. But unlike other businesses we have started, at the end of your eBay journey you’ve probably built up a good little business but have got nothing to sell on other than left over stock. Most people should stick to part time selling unless they want to ramp up like Brad & Jazz.

This is your best video yet, Matt. Well done 👏👏👏 ps maybe people switching to non business where you pay no fees might almost be comparable? But I’m starting to feel the pressure to wear the buyer protection fee

I agree with 99% of your points. The only things I'd push back on are the 20% profit margin example and the idea that eBay holds you hostage 24/7.

While 20% may be a reasonable average across businesses, many successful eBay sellers especially in niches like collectibles, games, and trading cards often target margins closer to 30–40%.

I also think being full-time actually gives you more control over your schedule. When eBay is your primary job, you can structure your workload, plan days off, and manage weekends. A part-time seller often has less flexibility because they're trying to fit eBay around another job and other commitments.

Great video regardless.

Honestly your advice and videos have really helped me first two weeks I’ve made $480 in sales take home about $330 in profit after costs. Week 3 ive been at 0 sales so far but I know it’s cool I just follow your $100 a day listings sit back and know it’ll be fine I really only want to make about $9000 a year to cover school fees so I’m very happy with where I’m at and that’s because of your videos and guidance so I really appreciate it mate ! Thanks a bunch and keep at it you are helping so many people! Cheers mate

Hi Matt, I pretty much agree with everything you are saying in the video and I would take it even further. I think when you are doing eBay you need to shift your mindset away from eBay being an income.
I treat everything as assets not income. So you buy a product for $1 and you have to get as greedy as possible by buying it for the lowest price you can and sell it for the highest price you can, because every time you make a transaction you incur a cost. So your asset was a $1 coin and it turned into a DVD and then you turn that asset into a $20 note.
If you treat that $20 as income you go out and buy lunch and its gone. If you treat it as an asset you redeploy that $20 and try and turn it into $100.
So in my opinion the most important things in eBay as a casual seller is:
1. treat everything as an asset, increase your assets so you can invest that money, that then gets you a passive income.
2. Control your costs
3. Work regularly but not always, wait for the right deal
4. If you buy in bulk know how to get rid of surplus stock.
5. Low sales, high margin is better than high sales low margin.
6. Buy stuff you're interested in and its not so much of a grind.
7. Don't get disillusioned if you're not making sales.

I've seen it happen to a lot of people that go full time they think more hours, full time hours on eBay will directly translate into more income and they don't realise that's not the case, unless you have steady suppliers with reliable stock and consistent pricing it just won't work that way for you and then they give up

I'd like to see a video on your thoughts of the feedback system of eBay. I only receive feedback about a third of the time (100% positive still) from the sales I do. I only use eBay as a side hustle, but I'm just surprised how few people give feedback from sales that I provide. Love your videos!
