The world tells us freedom comes from having more. Thoreau proved it comes from needing less. Do you think true wealth is measured by what we hold onto, or by what we can let go of?

This video is proof that philosophy is more practical than half the stuff we learned in school

Back then when my father saw other possessions that I don't have.He always called me lazy to thrive, luckily I prefer to choose peace of mind over things that clutter my well-being 💪

there is a reason why society wants us constantly overstimulated... so we never realize the wisdom of needing less and worship the servitude of materialism. The world needs a NEW story... a story that teaches society that we are merely here for a while to enjoy co-creation with Nature.

Thanks for the biography info on Thereau. Only two miles into the woods to Waldon. I thought it was in the boonies.
For eleven months I live in the woods on the river. My best friend is an alligator. He lives across the canal from me. He doesn't have a name. We gaze at each other each morning during my three cups of coffee.

Since I moved here I've been pulling over to look at boats for sale on the shoulder of the road. A month ago I bought one - an old, small, used pontoon boat. It doesn't fit in my rickety boathouse, so it's tied outside. I use the leaf blower to get the leaves and twigs out. Ten minutes from my dock, around the bend, I tie off under the cypress trees. Nothing man made in sight. I feel like a lucky minnow swallowed up by nature. I've found peace.

To need less is not to lack — it is to see clearly. Thoreau’s wisdom reminds us that simplicity is not emptiness, but fullness without excess. When we release what we don’t need, we make space for what truly matters.

Traveling with a backpack for extended periods was the greatest training.

I lived more life and months than many people will live in a lifetime.

You'll notice just how little you actually need when you are the one carrying it from planes, trains, hotels, hostels.

You may live in a place for weeks or months and realize you haven't driven in all that time and did not even think one time about your SUV back home.

Actually being present, taking a genuine interest in other people, connecting, sharing, experiencing, sometimes loving.

No Amazon packages. No news reports.

Wherever else could we get this, but, on social media; on YouTube. Social media throw up to individual persons just what they need (essential) or want (societal). I'm a Need-based person, not a Want-based person. Thoreau's philosophy validates my rebellion to the modern society since a boy.

I've never understood trying to impress others with your possessions or lifestyle. Especially strangers that have little to no bearing on your life.
