  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceRK1RM5IPA&amp;t=472">7:52</a> I just drove from the middle of Maine to CT on labor day and there was traffic for like an hour on the highway and for most of it I had this woman behind me who was on her phone the whole time and I just kept watching her on her phone in my rear view getting closer and closer to me and bracing for impact every time.<br><br>Edit: In his drawing explaining why you can&apos;t avoid a rear end he&apos;s wrong about how much you have to move your car out of the way, you only have to move half of the car out of the way if the other person moves their car half way out of the way too, so it really depends on the situation but to say you can never avoid an accident by watching in your rear view is clearly wrong because every situation is different, you might only need to move a little bit to avoid the crash. Definitely should pay attention to your rear view when stopping on the highway.

  If you put your yield lights on before a big stop on the highway, you can significantly reduce the chances of someone rear-ending you from behind at full speed
