  My husband made us breakfast and I cooked dinner. We don’t contribute to consumerism, life is already expensive.

  I was given flowers a heated blanket and gift cards. I gave him flowers a cologne gift set and I had a blanket made for him with pictures of him and his dad who recently passed

  Man, the constant materialistic gift-giving from both sides is exhausting. How is it meaningful when you&apos;re constantly getting gifts? Everyone focuses on the materialistic side of the relationship, ignore the emotional/spiritual side of it, and then ask themselves why they got a negative result. <br><br>Like Thorin Oakenshield said to Bilbo before passing away, &quot;If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, the world would be merrier.   This was my first Valentine’s Day spent alone &amp; I can say that it came with NO stress… I was content just with that🙌🏽

  It seems like every holiday is now just about consumerism it doesn&apos;t feel the same anymore it&apos;s like we forgot the essence of the holidays somehow.

  I never had a Valentine’s Day gift before (26) but it’s the thought that counts. I would have love a box of chocolates (not dark) some flowers, and a nice teddy bear. It’s not hard to please a good woman it’s hard to please a privileged spoiled one. “If a man/women can not appreciate the small things on earth, she /he will never appreciate the bigger things in heaven.”
