About 8 years ago, I had had a particularly tiring week at school, and decided I needed some time out on Friday afternoon. I popped into the bookshop next to my favourite eatery and bought a book. I went to sit down in a quiet spot and ordered my favourite toastie. I read, relaxed and enjoyed some ME time for 2½ hours. And that was the start of my weekly Friday afternoon ritual... Every week, I take myself out to lunch with my book in hand. It's one of the best things I've ever done for myself! It's just a reset. Time for me to enjoy my end of the week treat! Best thing ever!

I'm a full time and I mean full 24/7/365 care giver for my wife. She is estranged from her kids (Alzheimer's scared the crap out of a lot of people) so it's just me. I get up 60 to 90 minutes before she wakes up. That is my non negotiable time. No phones, no computers, no TV, no newspapers, just me. Make coffee, and do stretches while it's brewing. I go out to the patio (in Arizona) & spend 10 minutes strarring at the mountains and sipping my coffee. The rest of the time is meditating or tai chi or reading or sometimes, all three. The rest of the day is its own beast but even then, I find 10 ro 15 minutes for me. Trust me, after 5 years of not having any me time, I won't give up my mornings.

I do have enough free time after work (I’m single) but my job is so exhausting that I have nothing left in my body to do something for myself.

I'm too tired to do anything productive after work, so i go to bed really early and get up early to have "me time" or to tidy the house, do a load of laundry, etc<br>It's much more enjoyable to do when I'm fresh than when I'm exhausted after work.

Even a 2 hour commute has become "me time" when i listen to a good audiobook or music.

Can we ask Laura to have a special talk to our teenagers about time management??

Wife, mom of 4..work full time…My life is full & busy!! Time management is so crucial. I use to doom scroll, stopped! I used to go to bed as the late night revenge to have time for myself, I stopped!! I’m not saying I get right everyday but I’m so much more aware and intentional of my time than I used to be and it’s made a difference. Friday nights are my time to unwind from the busy, hectic work week…usually a soak in the tub and reading. I’ve also started rec volleyball one night a week for 2 1/2 hrs. I work out 3 -4 days a week, in the morning to accomplish something for myself at the beginning of the day. Makes me feel good!! I Love planning on Friday tip. This was so good!!

I waste like 2 hours of social media every day and today I decided to listen to Mel. I watched two of her most interesting conversations. Loving these podcast. I think I will now make a Mel day every week listening to some of theseconversations to help my growth and stop wasting time.😊

I love the idea of exercize snacks. Anything can become a daily habit by doing snacks. 10 squats while the coffee brews, 5 minutes of meditation between meetings, a walk around the clock every hour, etc can be life changing.

I retired at the end of October 2025. In November I started praying about what the rest of my days should look like. I got "look how you move through your days, your habits."<br>Quickly discovered sedentary and nutrition. I hired a nutritionist who turned me on to Dr Staci Sims (so grateful), began an elimination diet (30 days) then reintroduced slowly.<br>Began swimming at least once per week (goal is twice), bought heavy weights, and have a 40 minute workout 3x week. Walk a couple miles a day.<br>I have that set bedtime (for years).<br>I also started taking some online classes!<br>Over my working years I have done all of these periodically. There was a time when I was working 50 hours per week and driving 50 minutes each way. I remember telling myself to stop complaining, you haven't worked 40 yet this week. Self talk is so important! Escort those bad voices to the door, they just aren't needed anymore!<br>Ah- I always put everything away in the kitchen before I go to bed. If I don't, it lets me know I have work to do.
