Six years ago, I started playing my old recorder from when I was a child. Back then, I had weekly lessons for almost five years. (Not your regular school lessons, but pretty cool advanced lessons for the last two years) I had to stop taking lessons, because everyone else in my group switched to “real instruments” (I hated the term even back then!) then my recorder disappeared for almost 15 years, so I couldn’t even practice. (Meanwhile I learned piano and violin, so I never really stopped making music, only stopped playing recorder)
I don’t really know, why the algorithm recommended me your channel specifically, or which of the music gods and goddesses thought, I needed the recorder back in my life, but I am VERY thankful for it! It was a really hard time in my life (no, it was not the pandemic!)
Now my little descendant recorder with German fingering got support by their baroque cousins in size soprano, alto, tenor and bass and I love each and everyone one of them. Sometimes I still play on my old recorder, but because it is so old, it doesn’t sound as good anymore as it sure did and I don’t like the German fingering very much.

Thank you so much for everything you post. It is like a warm blanket after a very rough day outside in a hurricane. ❤

I started playing a Sigo tenor about a year ago because of wrist tendinitis that made me unable to stretch my right hand over the standard tenor. It was lifesaving in that it let me keep playing with my informal ensemble without a lot of limitations.

I love it-- beautiful tone, blends well with the excellent wooden instruments my friends have, speaks easily in both the bottom and the top of its range. BUT it takes so much air!!! I have to break up musical lines much more than I would like because I have to breathe more often. I'm figuring the bass must have even more of an issue (for me if not for a professional like Sarah) and I'd be nervous about that.

One of my bandmates has one on order, so I'll get a chance to find out.

I’ve said this many times before, but I think this is a good place to repeat it (just as we learned from Cicero: “Repetition is the key”): Dear Geri, as a recorder maker, I am infinitely grateful to you for this brilliant “sigo” initiative you’ve launched. And THANK YOU for making us to be part of it.♥
