  This story is both cosmic horror and tragedy.<br>A child that can never understand that what hes doing is wrong, because his powers make him block out all attempts at raising him<br>And the town imprisoned by this child

  I think whats also fascinating is that the way they have to COPE is definitely making anthony WORSE. He wants to help, he does something AWFUL, they HAVE to say it was good, the action is reinforced. No matter what he does, they have to be happy with it, he will think he did a good job, he will think he helped. So any actual good intent from Anthony is warped because if everything he does is good, &nbsp;he cannot learn what is and isnt.

  As a childcare worker, it is DEEPLY unsettling to think about these parents and community members trying to model correct and good behavior, which would theoretically make Anthony&apos;s powers more manageable, but being unable to say or even think ANYTHING that may set Anthony off. It&apos;s bringing to my mind the question of whether it would be possible to healthily raise a child with powers like this at all. Anthony doesn&apos;t know that he&apos;s doing things that harm others, or likely that harming others is wrong, but no one can teach him about what he is doing without potentially sacrificing themselves. But by going along with his behavior to appease him, they are only reinforcing that his behavior is normal and okay, which only makes him do it more. It&apos;s so horrifying. I can&apos;t wait to babysit non-superpowered children tonight.

  more than just his &quot;bright, wet, purple gaze&quot;, the way Anthony was described to the children as a &quot;goblin&quot;, the way he was &quot;casting his odd shadow&quot;, the way he &quot;curled into an unlikely shape and fell partly asleep&quot;... i imagined he looked like a dread-inducing approximation of a human child. reading about how he could manifest reality: polymorphing other people into unimaginable things, thinking himself into places he wanted to go... i wondered if being a child with a developing and tenuous sense of self might mean his features and the way he looks changes over time like the &quot;shifting, writhing shapes&quot; on the television. the words &quot;he thinks, therefore he is&quot; are rattling around in my thoughts

  I forgot in the original story he was so much younger than the adaptation.<br><br>I also remember the Twilight Zone&apos;s sequel, where he wasn&apos;t a little boy anymore....he was an adult. A man who had grown up knowing he could get his own way all the time and nobody could deny him or scare him.....except his daughter...who was far more powerful than him....and for the first time in his life, Anthony was the one who had to make himself start thinking happy thoughts.

  Honestly: I feel like the parents not being given names isn&apos;t hinting towards Anthony being the narrator, but rather that Anthony&apos;s only ever seen them as &quot;Mom&quot; and &quot;Dad&quot;, so they don&apos;t HAVE real names anymore. Their names just are Mom and Dad. However, the adults also know that those are words with meaning behind them, so even though their names have been erased from time because of their son, the adults aren&apos;t gonna call them &quot;Mom&quot; and &quot;Dad&quot; because that&apos;s a bit weird for them, so they&apos;ll call them &quot;Anthony&apos;s mom&quot;, &quot;Anthony&apos;s dad&quot;, &quot;pal&quot;, &quot;friend&quot;, or whatever else they can to not call them &quot;Mom&quot; and &quot;Dad&quot;.

  I had two interesting theories after hearing this story. 1: The &quot;Sun&quot; was likely a manifestation of Anthony because he removed the original sun for whatever reason, but then had to realize he and the town needed a &quot;sun&quot;. Except Anthony didn&apos;t hide or remove the sun, he outright deleted it from existence and had to make a sun as he understood it.<br>2. The void. I think the town is all that&apos;s left in existence because either Anthony doesn&apos;t want people to leave him, or <s>as a toddler</s> he doesn&apos;t know the world outside his town exists, so therefore it doesn&apos;t.

  The best justice alone in this story is that if Anthony destroys everyone in the town then he will be completely alone. A toddler with no toys. Any recreations would be from HIS mind, HIS memory.<br><br>Anthony will create a hell he&apos;ll have to grow up in.
