They are very similar to tomatoes, but unlike tomatoes the fruit of the potato is poisonous because of high quantities of solanine, growing them from the tubbers themselves is just easier for cloning and selecting desirable traits.<br> <b>Fun fact</b> : you can graft a tomato plant onto a potato one and you will get a plant that grows Potatoes in the ground and tomatoes above it

  Believe it or not, potatoes do go to seed! They grow a berry that can be harvested for their seeds, called True Potato Seeds (TPS). its just not nearly as reliable as growing them from the tuber.

  Potatoes in Rimworld have low fertility sensitivity, which means they grow relatively ok in poor soil, but also means that high fertility soil or hydroponics won&apos;t do as much. If its your only option then sure its a good idea. But generally you want to grow rice in hydroponics basins (unless rapid growth-harvest times are really eating into colony productivity)

  I myself am a farmer and even at home, I garden. The only reason why I play Rimworld is for gardening. Same with Zomboid. I&apos;m thankful people share this hobby and affinity.
