මේ පාර Oscar එකත් නෝලන්ටද? — The Odyssey (2026) Movie Review | Off Topic, On Purpose E10

$264 million. Opening weekend. A 2700 year old poem. Only Nolan. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey just became his biggest global opening ever — $124.5 million domestic, $139.6 million international, $264.1 million worldwide in a single weekend. And we watched it. Now we need to talk about it. Variety In this episode we review The Odyssey (2026) — Nolan's long awaited follow up to Oppenheimer — and break down everything. The story, the performances, the IMAX visuals, Howard Shore's score using actual Greek instruments, and the question every Sri Lankan geek is asking right now: is this Nolan's best film and does it deserve the Oscar? We dig into Matt Damon as Odysseus, Zendaya as Athena, Lupita Nyong'o's stunning dual role as both Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, Robert Pattinson as the villain Antinous, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, and Charlize Theron as Calypso. We talk about what Nolan got right from Homer's epic, what he changed, and whether those changes work on screen. We also compare it to our previous episode where we covered the full Odyssey lore — from Greek mythology and the Trojan War all the way to Ithaca — so if you haven't watched that one yet, go watch it first. 🏛️ Critics are calling it a masterpiece — a cinematic epic fit for the biggest screens, reinvigorating an ancient adventure with majestic sweep and sterling work from its colossal ensemble. We have thoughts. Lots of them. 🔥 Variety This podcast episode is created for review, discussion, and commentary purposes.
