There he is.
The great Walter Hill.
One of the most underappreciated auteurs still around.
Great style he has both as a screenwriter and director.

I used to get frustrated back in the 90s when nobody knew who Walter Hill was. This interviewer asked good questions,Thanks for this.

American Cinema`s most underrated genre Director. His early run of movies- Hard Times, The Driver, The Warriors, Long Riders, Southern Comfort, 48 HRS- 1975-82 is superb. There was also plenty of variety and overlooked gems like Streets Of Fire and Trespass in amongst his ouevre. Johnny Handsome, Last Man Standing, Red Heat all solid. His career has an interesting overlap with Carpenter`s who also had seemingly similar "peak" and then "leaner" periods- Late 70s into the 80s then 90s.

To me The Warriors is an absolute masterpiece, it's like Homer's Odyssey set in gang lang New York. I love that movie to my core. Thankyou Walter Hill you legend.

Well, Walter Hill isn’t correct about Steve McQueen not getting nominated. He was nominated only once for best actor in The Sand Pebbles. McQueen was a really good film actor who didn’t like dialogue and knew in film, the right look and attitude in a scene can convey a lot.

Walter Hill is a hell of a good writer/director and his first 7 films is quite a good run. He got a little spotty afterwards but that’s not uncommon.

A suggestion: drop the music playing constantly during the video, it’s not necessary and it’s annoying.

I've been a die hard Walter Hill since the 1980s. It's a shame his career slowed down in the early 2000s.
