There is much irony in watching this while listening to a computer generated narration.

In the 80's when sci-fi films warned about computers ending mandkind we would be told about this 40 years later by an AI video.

Robby the Robot failed to notice that the thumbnail was Space:1999, a TV show from the 70’s.
It likely also appeared on an auto-generated “Controversial Banned Scifi Shows From the 70’s!” video.

The message from "Wargames" may also be: "Not everything that can be built should be built!"

Runaway, Cherry 2000, and Millennium, were movies I watched on repeat in the 80s and 90s, and are still some of my favorites (along with Solarbabies, sadly not mentioned here). That said, it's truly dystopian watching a video warning of the overreach of technology that is narrated by AI, and possibly even written by AI judging by the inclusion of films like War Games, Robocop, Tron, and Videodrome, which are far from "forgotten."

    CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
All but four of these films ( Quiet Earth, Saturn 3, They Live, and Millenium ) are considered part of the Cyberpunk movement of the 1980s. Like Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, the films initially failed not because they were 'weird' or 'confusing' but because 1980s audiences were not ready for what cyberpunk media had to offer. It wouldn't be until 1999's The Matrix when audiences were ready.

Electric Dreams was directed by Steve Barron, in his feature film debut. He'd cut his teeth in music videos, and some of those were undeniable classics: Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and a-ha's "Take On Me" are just two.

His next feature film wouldn't be released until 1990, but I'll bet you've at least heard of it: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

I forgot about Looker. It really did predict the idea of AI influencers. And Cherry 2000 foresaw how the dating scene became something cold and legalistic. And of course, They Live, was just freekly accurate, much like 1984.

Every 80’s sci-fi movie had at least one gray or white bread van.
