In Just another day, Gabe sings about how "The morning sun is stunning," eventho a couple lines before, Dan said it's cloudy and raining but that's because Gabe lives in a world where "The sun shines each day."

Everything in this production seems so much more grounded in reality - the set, the props, the costumes, the acting. So many previous productions stage it with very minimal stuff in this regard and broad acting because of the big emotions that the story calls for.
But I think for this show, because it blurs the lines between reality and halucinations, it makes so much sense to ground it as much reality as is possible on a stage. The running water from the faucet, all the nick-knacks, the naturalistic acting with all the little interactions that indicate a much bigger lived-in life, it all works to reduce the distance for the audience to the emotional reality and life of the characters, and allows for them to all be seen three-dimensionally.
They are all the villains and victims all at once, and yet again not, because those catagories are too narrow.

The personification of Gabe in this is heartbreaking, for Diana the grief that he encompasses for her is always present but for Dan not matter how hard it tries to reach out for him here (the keys/Gabe waving) he has tuned it out so well it doesn’t even phase him. He feels like has to stay strong for what’s left of his family and that means blocking out his grief for his child :( also the feeling in this first song of them ALL feeling the exact same pain but still putting on a happy face for one another is so heartbreakingly real for so many families

i really like the "imagining the ways you might have died" becuase i kind of read it as her imagining not just a world where she has a son who comes home late and makes her worry, but also worlds where she has a son who grows up and lives long enough to die in a different way. like, it's almost a dream of hers to get 17 whole years with her son before he dies in a train crash. idk if that makes any sense lmao.

I accidentally found this show thinking it was a film on my Dodgy Fire stick 😂 I really liked it and I’ve never actually watched a performance like this before

OHYMGOSH this is perfect. for the past few days ever since the proshot came out, i've been looking for reactors and i really enjoyed this!! seeing all the differences of this from the OBC is so fun to point out, especially since critics praise this cast and direction! thank you.

i've seen some recent N2N performances and the characterizations seem to be closer to Broadway, so i think this cast and director simply have their own new interpretation — "more pathos," as one critic has written.

yes, Jack stepped up for Iwan Rheon as Moritz in the reunion concert of Spring Awakening! Got to perform with the whole rest of the original cast after seeing them as a kid. Jack also was a big fan of N2N and bought tickets to see it before getting cast 🥲 We love to see it
Also known for playing Wylan in Netflix's Shadow and Bone, which might account for some of the volume of recognition online, particularly :)
