Advanced Marginal Tax Bracket Management requires Degrees of Freedom. The Biggest degree of freedom is Roth, the second is long term capital gains rates. That chart you showed demonstrating Item 8, has been called a Forward Looking Tax Plan (FLTP). The FLTP is a very valuable tool in deciding to do Roth Conversions.

Very much appreciate this information - very timely. I picked up your Taxable Social Security Excel tool from the episode you did with Erik @ The Retirement Nerds YT-Channel. Its a great tool that provides interesting insight. Your episode today described several factors that match my current scenario - in the valley of opportunity - concerned about spouse potentially being in Single Filer status at some point during RMD's - and inheritance for our kids. Its so complicated to account for all these "Roth Convert or Not" variables, but this series of YT videos is providing valuable tools and insight. - Much appreciated!

OUTSTANDING! One of the best I’ve seen. This will be a great series.<br><br>One thought I have is that we can all consider our gov’t as a charity. We The People! In fact, we can voluntarily donate to “reduce” the $37T National Debt. Some gov’t spending is charitable such as Medicaid, FEMA, etc. so I don’t feel too bad if I err toward slightly more Roth Conversions than was optimal…once we are dead and “able” to finalize the math on whether we made optimal decisions on conversions or even SS claiming ages and the like. Keep up the good work!

The 4.05% at age 73 (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIm24pgfUvI&t=277">4:37</a> into the video) is the old Uniform Life Table. Effective January 1, 2022, RMDs are based on the updated IRS Uniform Life Tables that put the age 73 RMD at 3.78% (26.5 factor)
