  I think that Atsu refuses to connect with her brother because her initial plan is to end it after her revenge. Having a living brother gives her something to live for and it messes with her plan

  I like the story fact that Atsu is not some &quot;noble&quot; samurai so she can use items like pocket sand during duels while Jin still has some pride in his swordsmanship so you cant use other items like kunai and smokes during duels

  a side note is that Jin wasn’t even taught the stances to counter different weapon types against the mongols; he literally learned each stance on the fly and was able to perfectly counter them because he’s that skilled of a swordsman. As his boyfriend Ryuzo said, Jin was the best swordsman on the whole island, and none of his mercenaries could ever dream of killing him.
