FYI- JR West -the email address used to purchase the pass on JR West must be entered exactly the same to reserve seats. Meaning it is case sensitive. The website does not tell you that and after hours of frustration I emailed them and they replied it’s case sensitive and I had one capital letter when I entered my email address. Hope this helps some of your viewers.

Thank you for the hard work putting this video together. This is the best video I’ve seen showing the “mechanics” behind buying and using the pass (in fact this video is good for any jr east area pass). This was very informative as we plan on doing a trip in December using the Arch Pass. As other commenters may have mentioned, a lot of the info on the web including any AI related answers were quite confusing and in some cases,frankly incorrect. Perhaps the only thing missing from this is the option of buying the pass from a vending machine which was initially what I was planning to do. I know at Shinagawa Station, I could buy a Tokyo Wide Pass from a machine. But now, even if I could use the same machine to purchase the hokuriku pass, I would rather do it your way using JR east site as I can do while still in the US.

In my experience, if you’re travelling from Osaka, I’d recommend ordering through JR West.<br>The map on the JR East website shows that there are collection points at Osaka stations, but this isn’t actually the case.<br>A JR staff member told me that it wasn’t possible to collect the pass there, but that it might be possible at Kansai Airport. <br>I tried to collect the pass I’d ordered through JR East, which took me half a day, but in the end I gave up and bought the one from JR West.
