This was the last Super Bowl narrated by John Facenda for NFL Films. He died in September 1984, eight months after this game. He was and always will be the voice of pro football.

This game proved that Jim Plunkett's Super Bowl-wining performance three years earlier was no fluke. He's clearly one of the most underrated quarterbacks in NFL history.

"Nothing on earth that blocked, or tackled or passed or ran could have stopped the Raiders on Black Sunday."

'As Washington's hopes faded into the dying daylight... On came Marcus Allen..running with the night.' Still gives me chills.

Facenda truly had an inspiring voice. His work should be shown in journalism classes everywhere.

I love when John Facenda said in the beginning of this video:<br><br>‘Commitment To Excellence’ The Model of The Raiders’ - brought tears to my eyes!<br>There is not another Professional Pro Sports Organization Like The ‘Raiders’.

Everything about this is awesome: the Raiders, the narrator, the music, Jim Plunkett's facemask, Joe Theismann's lack of a facemask, the giant Marlboro Man on the scoreboard, etc.

Washington had the # 1 scoring offense that year score the most points but only score 9 points in the Superbowl Raiders had a hell of a defense

I'll always remember this one ! The joy and proud look on Lyle Alzado's face and Todd Christensen tearing up always gets to me. I always have and always will, bleed Silver and Black ! Been a fan since the beginning.

"A screen pass, and they looked like they knew it was coming."<br><br>They DID. And it was the backbreaker. Squirek ended Washington's hopes.
