Stopping it, in the middle of that guitar solo & not rewinding it was criminally offensive 🤯

REN said the “Down the road” and gospel backing vocals is still him but used some voice changing software 🔥

Love the Bluesy Gospel vibe. Ren & Webby made an instant classic. It was Ren on Guitar & Piano, his voice has never sounded better.

We've just been baptized in the Church of Ren's Soul.
And I get it now.

After 24 hours of listening to different verses and really sitting with these tracks, it all clicked. This collab between Ren and Chris Webby is a massive statement. Both of these guys are fiercely independent and have built everything on their own terms, and "Down The Road" explains exactly why they refuse to sell out to the industry machine.

The lyrics lay out the whole trap step-by-step. The "salesman" starts whispering about fame and fortune, luring you in with talk about huge catering budgets to make the corporate world look shiny and safe. They make it sound like they’re doing you a favor when they tell you to "just write it on this line".

But then the mask totally drops. The truth comes out: "you gonna be my fucking puppet till it breaks you." It’s not a partnership; it’s enslavement. The most haunting part is when he says the choice you made to sign is the last thing you will ever choose for yourself.

Ren and Chris are showing us that being independent isn't just about the music—it's about keeping your soul. The industry has no say over these guys because their future belongs to them, not a label.

The fact that Ren is mostly self taught just speaks to the level of his talent, some people could play for a lifetime & never reach these kinds of skills.

Down the road is the name of the song. Inpatient is the name of their duo and Asylum is the name of their album.

I didn’t see anyone explain this, but Inpatient, is the name they’ve adopted for their collab. The album is called Asylum and this song is “Down the Road”

Also, it is Webby doing the high part on his own verse.
