  For anyone wanting to know how a nuke works:<br><br>Nuclear weapons, often called nukes, derive their destructive power from nuclear reactions, specifically nuclear fission (splitting atoms) or a combination of fission and fusion (joining atoms). These reactions release immense energy, causing a nuclear explosion. Modern nuclear weapons utilize a combination of chemical explosives, nuclear fission, and sometimes nuclear fusion to achieve this. <br><br>Here&apos;s a breakdown of the process: <br>1. Fission:
The core of a fission bomb contains fissile material like uranium-235 or plutonium-239. A neutron strikes the nucleus of an atom in this material, causing it to split (fission) and release energy, neutrons, and more fissionable material. This process creates a chain reaction, where released neutrons trigger further fission, releasing even more energy. 


2. Fusion:
Thermonuclear weapons, or hydrogen bombs, utilize both fission and fusion. A fission reaction is used to create the intense heat and pressure needed to initiate a fusion reaction, where hydrogen isotopes fuse to form helium, releasing even more energy. 


3. Energy Release:
The energy released in these nuclear reactions manifests as: <br> &nbsp; &nbsp;* Blast: The rapid expansion of energy creates a powerful shockwave that can destroy structures and cause widespread damage. <br> &nbsp; &nbsp;* Heat: High temperatures generated by the reaction cause severe burns and ignite fires over a wide area. <br> &nbsp; &nbsp;* Radiation: Nuclear weapons release harmful ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and neutrons, which can cause radiation sickness and long-term health effects. <br> &nbsp; &nbsp;* Radioactive Fallout: The fission products and other materials dispersed by the explosion can contaminate the environment and create long-lasting radioactive fallout. <br>1. 


<br>In essence, a nuclear weapon is a device that harnesses the immense energy contained within the nucleus of an atom through controlled nuclear reactions, releasing it in a devastating explosion. 😁
