  Hi Tyler - Danish teacher here :) The Danish national anthem was written during a period known as National Romanticism. It was an artistic and literary movement in the 19th century that developed as part of Romanticism, but with a particular focus on the nation, national identity, history, and the Danish landscape. <br> <br>In Denmark, National Romanticism was closely connected to a period of political and economic crisis. Denmark suffered several major setbacks during the Napoleonic Wars: Copenhagen was bombarded by the British in 1807, the Danish state went bankrupt in 1813, and in 1814 Denmark lost Norway, which had been part of the Danish monarchy for centuries. <br> <br>These events contributed to a sense that Denmark had become a smaller and weaker country. Danish National Romanticism can therefore partly be understood as an attempt to strengthen a sense of Danish identity and national pride.

  Freya is the Nordic Godess of LOVE; We&apos;re living in Freja&apos;s house. I love it!!!!<br><br>I&apos;s NOT a beach where you go swimming, that&apos;s reflected. It&apos;s the BEECH TREE, reflected in the sea... And that sight is about as common as dirt 🥰

  The last phrase is &quot;Our old Denmark (the nation from back to the Vikings) will endure, as long as the trees, that stands next to the ocean will be reflected in the blue waves. So as long as the beech (remember the first verse? &quot;There is a lovely country, it stands with broad beeches. Near the salty Eastern beach....&quot;. As long as the trees are being refelcted in the waves of the sea, out country will endure.
